Thank you for exploring my website and learning more about me and my therapy practice.
I graduated from the University of Texas in 2002 and received a M.Ed in Counseling in 2015. I am married and I have two children (one a junior in college and one a senior in high school). Hugging my golden retriever Bodhi or taking long walks with him are my go-to coping skills, he is a such a snuggly teddy bear and my best buddy.
Having a career in education for many years, I found myself working one-on-one with teachers as an instructional coach, helping them with social emotional learning and improving their classroom climate. It was through this work that I realized how fulfilling it was to help others to set goals, work toward growth, and problem solve. This started my journey to becoming a school counselor and ultimately, to providing mental health therapy.
My training and experience have been centered in EMDR, CPT, culturally responsive restorative practices, Heart Math, the Neurosequential Model (Dr. Bruce Perry), trauma informed counseling, nervous system meditation practices, solution focused brief counseling, TBRI, LGBTQ identity affirmation, grief work, CBT strategies, DBT strategies, and TF-CBT.
As your therapist, I will help you uncover your strengths and use them as a foundation to build the life that you envision. Together, we will explore your challenges, process your emotions, reduce your body's reaction to trauma, and develop useful coping skills to help you thrive. I am here to support you in finding balance, healing, harmony, and hope.
I understand how heavy life's challenges can feel and I'm here to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can begin to unpack them. You deserve support, understanding, and a chance to heal, and starting the therapy process is the first act of self-care on that journey. If you feel that you would like to partner with me, I invite you to reach out.
